Further to the recent Former Ironbridge Power Station Update, the Parish Council has now received details of the Uniper email address to use for registering your interest in receiving updates regarding the former Power Station site and the following news from Uniper:
We’re contacting you as someone who has previously expressed an interest, or is recognised as having an interest in Ironbridge power station.
Uniper enjoys good relationships with the local community. It’s important to Uniper that you are kept up-to-date on any news regarding the sale of the power station and that you know who to contact should you have any questions.
Suzanne Bennett and I, from Macbeth Lankester, are working as part of the Uniper team to stay in touch with you and keep you informed.
Where are we now
The 141 hectare site is currently up for sale and Uniper is talking to a number of interested parties. The sale of the site is being managed by commercial property and real estate consultants, Cushman and Wakefield.
While there is no set deadline for the sale of the site, it is Uniper’s aspiration to agree a purchase by the end of the year. However, until a buyer is found Uniper will continue to manage the site, and maintain safety and environmental compliance of the power station.
Alongside the sale of the power station, Uniper is currently preparing a demolition contract which will enable the removal of equipment and a number of main plant structures from the site. These will be subject to all the usual planning permissions and notifications.
The first minor demolition will take place in the autumn this year when Uniper will dismantle conveyors 6 and 7 and the accompanying conveyor tower between the National Grid substation and the main power station building.
