INSPECTIONS AND VEGETATION CLEARANCE JIGGERS BANK

The planned closure on Jiggers Bank on 6th and 7th October 2020, is to facilitate Severn Gorge Countryside Trust (SGCT) to carry out an abseil inspection of rock faces above and next to the concrete buttress on Jiggers Bank. There will be two specialists abseiling down the rock face removing vegetation, torque testing bolts and removing loose material. The work will see small rocks and debris falling from height which is why the road needs to be closed.

SGCT will also be carrying out tree safety works to a number of trees infected with ash die back. The hedge down Jiggers Bank will also be trimmed

By making the best use of the closure and planning work carefully, this will reduce the need to close the road again in the near future.

The road will be shut between 09:30 and 17:00 each day.  The diversion route for vehicular traffic travelling southbound will be via Buildwas Bank, A4169 From End Of Buildwas Bank To Wrekin District Boundary, Much Wenlock Road, Buildwas Road, Dale End, Dale Road, Wellington Road. For vehicular traffic travelling northbound vice versa.

If you have any special access requirements while the works are in progress or need to contact the council about these works, please respond to this email or contact SGCT direct on the following email address: nathanmorris@severngorge.org.uk and someone will be in contact with you shortly.
